A home tour with easy Christmas decor ideas you can recreate instantly for your own home!

Christmas home tour season is here and it's always my favorite of all the home tours. So many fun and creative ways to decorate for the holiday! And I can't wait to share with you some of my easy Christmas decor ideas.

For years now, I've been teaming up with the lovelyMarty fromA Stroll Thru Life along with 29 other talented bloggers to share our holiday home décor with you. This is one of my favorite tours to be in! I'm always so grateful to be included with such a talented group of ladies. If you are hopping over from Southern State of Mind, welcome! Grab yourself a fresh cup of coffee or cocoa and make yourself right at home!

For this years tour, I'm doing something a little different. Along with inspiring you with pretty holiday decor, I also want to give you inexpensive decor ideas that you can easily recreate for your own home. Ideas to help you create that classic Christmas look but still make it uniquely yours.

So, having said that let's start the tour at the front porch and then we will make our way indoors.

Christmas Decor Ideas You Can Easily Recreate

I always love switching out my front doors decor when Christmas arrives for two reasons. One, it's the very first place your guests will see. And two, it's easy and inexpensive.

Seasonal Doormats Are So Easy

Do I have a thing for doormats? Why do you ask? Well – yes, yes I do! 😉 I love how they can instantly give you front door a new holiday look. My new doormat was under $13 bucks.

I layered it on a rug I've had for years. Then I grabbed some planters from the backyard deck, added a couple of mini trees, and lighted those babies up. And I love it! Simple by still very classic Christmas.

And because Christmas lights are the best part, here's how the front door looks at night.

Now let's make our way inside to the living room for my second Christmas decor idea that I love to do!

Switch Out Wall Art

If you have any wall art, a quick swap of the prints for more holiday seasonal looks is such an easy way to give your room that special Christmas feel. Our living room had some floral prints and I replaced them some winter wonderland prints.

The prints with the reindeer are my favorite! But all the snowy trees really helps set the mood for Christmas as well. And since it's been in the 70's in Colorado lately, this may be all the snow I get this year!

Neutral Colors Are Your Friends

You may have noticed in my living room I like to use neutral colors throughout my home – and especially when decorating for Christmas. Neutrals allow me to use the same items again and again, no matter what the season. Then all I need to do is accessorize with an accent color to give the room, table, bedroom etc. that instantly holiday feel.

So of course, my kitchen has lots of neutral Christmas decor as well.

This year green, gray and white were my main neutral colors and gold was my accent color. You saw the large golden bells in the living room. So for the kitchen, a few new gold accessories of spoons in the coffee bar and a pepper mill next to the stove. Could these items be left out all year? Of course. Do they add a Christmas feel right now? Yup!

Fairy Lights Are A Christmas Decor Must

My white ceramic houses are some of my most treasured Christmas decorations. And I realize how silly that seems seeing that they are simple houses from the Target dollar bin. But I just adore them! And after I came up with the idea to use fairy lights inside them, there was no stopping me. I can place them anywhere. Bathrooms? Yup! Entryway? Absolutely. Inside my glass kitchen cabinets? You know it!

This year I decided to place them in the kitchen window. The twinkle at night reflecting into the dark window is so magical! And those lovely fairy lights make it all possible.

And don't forget about the fireplace mantel or the banister. All perfect places for those super powerful battery operated lights that I love.

Less IS Definitely More

This year my Christmas decor is more simple than ever. A couple of weeks ago, I pulled out all my Christmas decor and then almost immediately put back half. I just wanted less this year. And it feels good. So if you want to go all out – go for it! But if you decided to go with less – just know – you will not be alone this year. 🙂
