George Washington Community Pool
In a collaborative try betwixt IPS and IndyParks, the George Washington Customs High Schoolhouse pool becomes an indoor pond expanse open up to the public on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Located on Washington Street about a mile west of the zoo, the high school's location leaves something to be desired. Once inside, however, the Indy Parks staff is friendly and knowledgable, and the pool area is clean and bright.
I arrived at the pool on Saturday afternoon with toddler in tow. The gentleman at the door took our money (cash only) and gave me an activity guide before pointing the manner to the locker room. The puddle is large with a lap surface area, a floating obstruction course called the WIBIT, a deep water/diving section, and a 13 ft stone wall. The same homo who took greeted us at the door came in to tell us about the WIBIT rules and to fit Luke with a life jacket (everyone must wearable a life jacket on the WIBIT).
The pool is 4 feet at it'southward most shallow, and the WIBIT and climbing wall are geared for big kids and adults, so this is a great puddle for older children and confident swimmers. Although life jackets are available I wouldn't recommend this puddle for any parent taking more than than one kid who needs assistance while swimming. My ii-year-old was able to do most of the obstruction course with a lot of help, and to swim with me in the lap lanes, but this pool is platonic for older kids with good swimming skills and energy to fire.
In addition to open up swimming the pool offers a birthday party package, private swimming lessons, life guard grooming, aqua Zumba, and scuba diving amongst other things. For more details similar the GWCS Puddle on Facebook or requite them a call.
